Move over Desktop, it’s the age of the laptop computer, or at least that what the high demand suggests. Manufacturers are aiming to keep up with this but have issued warning that supplies could be limited. I think the worst thing for manufacturers is that it doesn’t look like anything will hinder this demand for laptops. The technology loops are so minute too which makes it all the more of an up hill struggle.
Gaming notebooks are one of the variations that have seen growing interest. You can actually get a very high spec for your money these days because even the enthusiast technology is sliding into the mass market area very quickly. System performance is also getting better and gaming on notebooks is becoming more sufficient for gaming by those who need to move around. Compact parts that perform faster and are run cooler also means that gone are the ages of the giant notebooks for gaming. Still there is a big gap between the speed of laptops and desktop pcs however desktops are more spacious to make way for special cooling and airflow that all help. Could gaming notebooks ever get anorexic? I think this is a sector to watch.
I think need for custom notebooks will always be about. I think the parts are more established and run better. By being able to remove some extras from the specification you can really save money on things you won’t use. The systems found in retail outlets are traditionally prebuilt based average, mass market people and well not everybody is standard now are they? So plainly this is why you need a custom laptop computer. There are a lot of small notebook assembelers about that offer great customer care. To a couple of people this is very significant.
The outlook of upcoming portables seems exciting. The minute £200 notebooks are going like crazy at the moment. They have their individual market in the laptop market in such a little space of time. Supremely people would desire a slim laptop with a 15 inch screen. Forget about power and price and we would already have this. It would not shock me to see featherweight gaming notebooks in the next forthcoming future. New notebooks are usually top secret before their introduction so there is no guession what new products we will encounter.
For the price these are the best laptops.

Are there things you need to know when it comes to home remodeling? Home improvement is big business today. Many of us look at our homes and consider ways we can improve on the look and feel of it. There are obviously pros and cons to performing a home remodel, but is there a direction I should take in the home remodeling process?
Like many projects you may take on with your house, home remodeling is often times a do it yourselfer. Most of the time that is due in no small part to budget. Like with anything you do yourself, home remodeling success is has a lot to do with the time you spend on it before you ever start.
You get into your newly purchased home. You are happy, but you notice that there are things that just don’t quite work the way you had hoped. You don’t want to move since you just bought the home, but you feel like something should be done. You finally decide to consider home remodeling to help your situation.
One thing to consider in all stages of a home remodeling project is cost. Start off by hiring a designer who will only charge you hourly and not a bunch of flat fees and excess charges. The architectural plans will likely cost you a lot of money. That is money you don’t want to spend until you know for sure what you are doing, so have your design consultation before you go forth with anything like that.
Next, check out whether or not your home will be able to be modified to create what you want. You will also want to contact the building department in your area. Often times there is paper work or permits that must be filed before doing any large home remodeling projects. If you make sure everything is on the up and up from the start, you can avoid expensive fines and problems down the road in your project.
There is one other person you should consider consulting before you take on a home remodeling project: your real estate agent. The agent can find out whether or not the improvements you are making will be met with a reasonable increase in your home’s value. He or she knows the real estate market in your area and how adding or changing your home may effect you financially when it comes time to sell your home. Take him or her out to dinner or lunch and talk about the pros and cons of what you are thinking of doing. Once you have done that, the final decision is yours based on all of your research.
Your home is a big investment and probably the largest purchase you have ever made. So you may become attached to it and when it doesn’t quite fit with what you want anymore, rather than moving you can consider a home remodeling project. Before getting started, though, make sure you do a lot of research. Talk with designers, architects, your local building department, and even your real estate agent. Once you have all of your homework out of the way, though, you will have the knowledge to put together a functional, affordable, and reasonable home remodeling project.

Spyware that interferes with network software causes major problems in the connection of the Internet. Yes, the seemingly endless onslaught of cyber crime continues, this time via the innocent e-card - that which once was a nice surprise in the Inbox has become a gate to identity theft. Exploit Prevention Labs in Atlanta, GA reported in September that company researchers have discovered a scam in which e-cards are used to install keylogger software on the victim’s computer. The scam, which was executed by an Australian cyber criminal ring and is known as MDAC, involves sending to the user an e-card that appears to originate from a major online greeting card service. When the user clicks on the hyperlink to open the card, the browser is redirected to a exploit server, which checks to see if the computer has been updated with the latest security patches. If it hasn’t, the server installs a rootkit and keylogger, then redirects the computer on to an actual e-card. The user continues working on the computer, likely forgetting about the e-card. But from that point on, all keystrokes are being recorded and accessed by the attackers for use in identity theft. Winclear is the only software which is capable of removing keylogger programs. As most of you know, I have worked with wholesalers both on and offline for many years and a number of my websites are based around helping people find and trade with wholesale suppliers.
I receive a fairly constant stream of emails from customers and potential customers asking various questions about buying from wholesalers and this has been the case for the past few years. These questions always increase in volume around this time of the year as people try and grasp a bit of buying madness that surrounds Christmas. In view of this, I would like to throw a few do’s and don’ts out there which will benefit anyone new to trading…..
1. One of the most common ‘gripes’ I get from people is that they can’t find low prices for popular products online. It never ceases to amaze me how little effort some people want to put into making money….
The fact is that it is highly unlikely that you will find the best prices for the majority of products online - this is especially the case in the UK as many of the larger wholesalers don’t even have websites. More often than not, an online wholesaler is merely someone that has gone to an offline wholesaler and purchased a load of stock to mark up and offer to online buyers. If the wholesaler you are buying from online doesn’t have a trade warehouse or premises that you can visit and purchase from, there is every possibility that they are not a wholesaler at all but simply a middleman.
Cut out the middleman and pick up the phone or better still, visit prospective suppliers and build a relationship with them. Buying wholesale stock online may be convenient but in most cases you won’t be getting the best deal and you may also be missing out on additional stock that isn’t advertised online. Note that this isn’t so much the case in the US where many big wholesalers do have excellent online ‘warehouses’ - we are yet to catch up in the UK 
2. eBay is an excellent venue for buyers and sellers BUT it is also the biggest marketplace in the World. This means that if you want to sell there, you will be in competition with some of the largest traders in the World. Don’t be surprised if you can buy products cheaper on eBay than you can from your local wholesaler. Chances are that the seller has negotiated a massive discount for buying in huge bulk or they may even be importing the products themselves (or using their buying power to source direct from the manufacturer). Unless you are in the position of being able to buy in similar quantities, you simply won’t be able to compete on a like for like basis with many popular product lines.
3. People often email me asking where they can find a wholesaler for a really specific, niche item (for example horse-riding saddles). With something so specific, it is highly unlikely that you will find an individual wholesaler that deals solely in that product. Often time it will be necessary to make your wholesale purchases direct from the manufacturer. Therefore, if you are having trouble locating a supplier for a particular item, don’t be afraid to pick up the telephone to the manufacturer and simply ask them who their main distributors are.
4. I’ve said it so many times before but I still get emails about this one - avoid products such as DVDs, computer games, electrical goods etc like the plague. The profit margin is tiny and you won’t be able to compete with the bigger sellers. I don’t know how much clearer I can make it - unless you want to work for peanuts, just steer clear of these products. The only exception is if you can add value in some way and differentiate yourself from the other larger sellers.
5. Remember too that if you are struggling to find a product at a particular price, there is every possibility that what you are looking for just doesn’t exist. I have lost count of the number of times people have emailed me asking where they can buy ‘product A for £x each’ and when I have asked them why they think they should be able to buy it at that price, they reply that ‘it sounds about the right sort of price for a wholesale purchase’!! Seriously - they have just made up the figure in their head that they ‘think’ they should be able to buy at!! Usually in these situations, the figure is wayyyy off…..
6. As with everything, buying and selling products takes a bit of effort (in fact, it can often take a lot of effort) but those willing to put the work in are the ones that benefit financially.
If you want to sit at home and buy stock online to resell on eBay, then don’t be surprised if you find yourself working hard for minimal profits. If however you are prepared to visit a few wholesalers, check out the latest stock as it arrives, build up a relationship and negotiate a great deal with your new business partner, then you have every right to expect to see a good return on your investments….

Patents are not new, their presence was noted long back during 16th Centaury. In U.S. at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, a federal patent power was proposed by James Madison and Charles Pinckney and was adopted without debate as Article 1, Sec. 8, clause 8. The history of Patent Law began all the way back with the Constitution of the United States which was specific about providing protection for those who invent new and unique products. But after the TRIPS, intellectual property rights and patents gained importance to the business communities and industries. The retrieval of the patent information was made easy by internet and access to different patent databases. Patent are the source of the technological innovation and detailed mining of patent literature is proven to be useful of the Completive Intelligence.
This article attempts to analyze importance and methods for the patent data mining and their future use in the competitive intelligence. The key issues discussed in this article are:
a. Importance of the patent data mining;
b. Using patent data for competitive intelligence
Data Mining is a process of discovering meaningful new correlations, patterns and trends by sifting through large amounts of data stored in repositories, using statistical, data analysis and mathematical techniques. Patents are the most valuable and comprehensive source of the technological information and thus are very crucial for the industries. A very strong patent portfolio and IPR system is needed for a industry to compete the global market. An organization’s patent portfolio forms a critical part of its IP holdings alongside its designs, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. Much of the value from a portfolio can only be realized through its effective management. In turn, that requires tools and techniques to help understand portfolio content, how and where this fits in with the organization’s competencies and what the market opportunities are for exploiting the technology owned. There is also a need to identify gaps where complementary technology can be licensed in and identify non-core technology where know-how can be licensed out or divested for financial return. This is the province of patent mining. A clear and effective IP strategy critically incorporates a clear and effective strategy for managing an organization’s patent portfolio.
There are several free and paid patent databases consisting of billions of the patent documents. The databases which are free to search the patents are as follows: USPTO, EPO, JPO, SurfIP, SIP, Freshpatents, Patentsonline, etc. Whereas different paid databases are, Delphion, Dialog, Micopat, etc. which also include inbuilt analysis tools.
The data obtained form these patent documents can be used for the competitive Intelligence. It is defined as process of discovering “competitor’s” strategic decisions, or of business area characteristics, using quantitative analysis techniques applied to data and information, obtained through legal process, regarding the chosen competitor or business area. Patent searching and analysis is done based on the objective. Patent data can be used for the completive intelligence in different ways as mentioned below:
• Theme Search: Theme searches provide the overview of patents related to your field of interest. These searches are helpful to detect the recent trend of your technology area and to establish your R&D direction. As these searches are fully client-oriented, the point of our work and report format is supposed to be various according to your needs.
• Patentability Search (Novelty Search): Patentability search is the first step of patenting process. A patentability search surveys patents filed in each national intellectual property office to check whether there exist inventions similar to yours. If you have a plan to file your invention to other countries, this search is essential because the foreign application is quite costly.
• Search by keyword (Assignee, Inventor, etc): This search provides the information of patents retrieved by specific keywords including assignee, inventors, or IPC, etc.
• Family patent / Legal status search.
• Current Awareness Search: This search is to report new development in particular technology or patenting activity of competitors regularly. You can keep in touch with recent technology as well as detect your rival’s R&D achievement and legal status of a particular patent with which you should consider continuously. This search is performed at interval specified by your requirement: weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Category.
• Legal Status report - Keep informed the current legal status and expected legal action of a particular patent.
• New Patent report - Keep informed the newly published or granted patents categorized in specific technology area defined by your searching queries.
• Patenting Activity report - Keep informed patenting activity of a particular assignee or inventor who you are interested in.
• Infringement Search: Infringement search is to check whether patent which can be infringed by your product being supposed to launch newly in a certain country exist or not in that country.
• Invalidity Search: When you intend to make some claims of a particular patent invalid, the invalid search can provide some prior art references that disclose claims that are infringed by the subject disclosure.
• Patent Map (Patent Analysis): Quantitative analysis based on statistical data of bibliographic information (country, assignee, IPC, etc). Qualitative analysis of core patents, Technological road map, multifarious analysis.
• Right-to-Use Searches: Right-to-Use searches are conducted, prior to marketing a new product, to confirm that the new product does not infringe on an existing patent or potentially infringe on a patent application.
Conclusion
These types of searches are primarily done using the different patent database and are very useful for competitive intelligence in the todays global prospective. Patent analysis and mining in combination with market research and financial assessment can build up a strong competitive environment for the competitors for the industries.

It is a challenge to succeed. If it were not, I’m sure more people would be successful, but for every person who is enjoying the fruit from the tree of success, many more are examining the roots. They are trying to figure it all out. They are mystified and perplexed by what seems to be some strange, complex and elusive secret that must be found if ever success is to be enjoyed.
While most people spend most of their lives struggling to earn a living, a much smaller number seem to have everything going their way. Instead of just earning a living, the smaller group is busily engaged in designing and enjoying a fortune. Everything just seems to work out for them. While the much larger group sits in awe at how life can be so unfair, complicated and unjust.
“I am a nice person,” the man says to himself. “How come this other guy is happy and prosperous, and I’m always struggling?” He asks himself, “I am a good husband, a good father and a good worker. How come nothing seems to work out for me? Life just isn’t fair. I’m even smarter and willing to work harder than some of these other people who just seem to have everything going their way,” he says as he slumps into the sofa to watch another evening of television. But you see you’ve got to be more than a good person and a good worker.
You’ve got to become a good planner, and a good dreamer. You’ve got to see the future finished in advance. You’ve got to put in the long hours and put up with the setbacks and the disappointments. You’ve got to learn to enjoy the process of disciplines and of putting yourself through the paces of doing the uncomfortable until it becomes comfortable. You’ve got to be prepared and willing to attack the challenges if you want the success because challenges are part of success. Now that may sound like a full menu of activities, but let me assure you that the process of going from average to fortune isn’t really all that difficult.
Thinking about it is the difficult part. Anticipating all the effort and the changes and the disciplines is far worse in the mind than in reality. I can promise you that the challenges you’ll meet on the road to success are far less difficult to deal with than the struggles and the disappointments that come from being average. Confronting and overcoming challenges is an exhilarating experience. It does something to feed the soul and the mind. It makes you more than you were before. It strengthens the mental muscles and enables you to become better prepared for the next challenge.
I’ve often said that to have more, we must first become more, and to become more, we must begin the process of working harder on ourselves than we do on anything else. But in addition to gathering new knowledge, new skills and new experiences; it is also important to discover new emotions. It is how we feel about what we know that makes the biggest difference in how our lives turn out. How we feel about the chances we have and the choices we have determines the intensity of our effort. Whether we try or don’t try. Join or don’t join. Believe or don’t believe.
I’d like for you to discover some strong feelings about your life and about what you want to do with that life. You probably have much of the knowledge and a lot of the experience and perhaps most of the skills that it takes to become successful. What you may be lacking in are the strong feelings about what you want and what you want to do. You may be one of those who have become so involved in the process of earning a living that you’ve forgotten about the choices and the chances you have for designing your own life.
Let these strong feelings help you take a second look at your life and where you’re headed. After all, you’ve only got one life, at least on this planet. So why not make it an adventure in achievement? Why not discover what all you can do and what all you can have? Why not discover how many others you can help and in the process how that can help you?
Why not now take the Challenge to Succeed!

A new year means a new beginning, and it’s a good time to think over your ideas
and tactics for 2006.
The plans you have for your business in 2006 will depend on where your business is
in the business cycle. You’ll have different tactics if it’s your first year in business, to
someone whose business has matured and who has passed the five-years-in-
business mark.
If your business is new, recognize that more businesses fail in the first year than at
any other time. The failure can be due any number of reasons, including: a lack of
preparation, a lack of understanding, and a lack of financial support.
More often than not, extremely successful people have had many business failures.
If your business fails, it’s not the end of the world. It doesn’t mean that you’ll never
be able to run your own business — it will just take you longer to get there.
Also, if it’s your first year in business, accept that business runs in cycles. You’ll
have busy times, and you’ll have slower times. Sometimes the slow times will be
seasonal, either because it’s summer and people are on vacation, or it’s holiday
time. At other times, business will just be slow! After the first year, you’ll
understand that business moves in cycles, and you’ll put money aside to tide you
over in slow periods.
If you’ve been in business for a number of years, your business faces other dangers
— that of the maturing business. Six years is a danger point. I’ve seen this in many
businesses. They steam ahead brilliantly for five years, and then hit the skids. For
whatever reason, once a business gets to the six year mark, it needs to revamp itself
to stay alive and vital.
So, whether your business is brand new, or whether it’s maturing, what’s NEW for
your business in 2006? Here are some ideas:
=> Set New Goals
When it comes to setting goals, don’t be timid! Set outrageous goals for yourself in
2006, goals which get you enthusiastic and excited.
You’ll sometimes read articles which suggest that you should set realistic goals. Fair
enough. The trouble with realistic goals — like doing ten per cent more business
this year than last year — is that these kinds of goals don’t get you excited. What
you need are BIG, extreme goals which get you enthusiastic.
Set a goal to double or triple your income — why not? After all, you just might
reach the goal!
=> Get New Clients
How many new clients do you want to attract in 2006? Ten? Twenty? A hundred?
Start by working out what processes you’ve used to attract clients in the past. Do
you mainly get new clients through referrals, through advertising, or through cold
calling?
Set a goal to do more of what’s worked in the past. Don’t stop at setting the goal
however, schedule the work in too — block out the necessary time in your day
planner each week.
=> Make New Contacts
The more people who know about you and your business, the more business you
will get. When you own a business, you can’t afford to be a shrinking violet, or you
won’t be in business for long.
You can make new contacts in any number of ways. You can network in your local
area through business groups, join clubs, and join volunteer groups.
You can also network online, by joining various business-oriented groups.
=> Learn New Techniques
This is the time to decide what you need to learn to move your business ahead in
2006. You could take a couple of business courses at your local community college,
or learn CSS or some other technical skill related to the online world.
Don’t feel that your education has to be related to business or to writing —
anything you learn will improve your work in subtle ways. If you’ve always wanted to
take a photography course, or an advanced driving course, go for it!
Make your plans for 2006 now. Remember to review your plans at least once a
month so that you stay on track. All the best for 2006 — you CAN make it your
best year ever.

Building Healthy Writing Habits
Do you have good writing habits? Are you meeting or exceeding your own expectations?
Consider this gentleman:
A 19th century British Postal clerk decided to start writing 3,000 words each day so that he could author his very own first novel. He placed his watch on the table and wrote before leaving the house every morning. This new habit paid off, and later Anthony Trollope published not one, but many novels; among them, The Macdermots of Ballycloran (1847), Phineas Finn and He Knew He Was Right (both 1869).
What do you think? Maybe it’s time to think about changing or starting some of your own writing habits. If you want more out of your nonfiction plans, here are five tips, the FIVE A’S, to build healthier habits:
1. ACCOUNT: Make a written account of any habits you’d like to work on: get more organized, make more telephone calls to potential business clients for writing projects and assignments, quit checking your e-mail 10 times a day. There’s no need to be grammatically correct, just write something down so you can see the habit you want to improve in front of you.
2. ACQUIRE: Gather information about the habit from several sources: marketing chat rooms on the Internet, library reference books about organization, online newsletters from motivational speakers like Zig Ziglar with improvement tips, etc. Check around for activities & groups in your area & sign up for workshops and speakers. The Small Business Administration also hosts workshops and offers free marketing materials and advice. Sign up. Take notes. Ask questions. Everyone has to start somewhere!
3. ACTION: Develop a course of action for working on each habit. Be as specific as possible. For instance, to increase phone calls to potential clients, maybe start with two calls per day. Then increase to three, gradually building up until you get the number you’d like. If you get sidetracked, or let a couple of weeks go by due to busy scheduling, late meetings, or too many commitments, catch up! Work overtime, ask someone to take notes at the next meeting for you, just say “no, maybe next time,” but get caught up and keep calling.
4. ASSESS: Log your progress to follow ups and downs. A scientific assessment isn’t necessary. Even one line jotted down each day or so on your calendar can let you track good days and bad, days you cheated and days you excelled, etc. Try placing a sticker on each day or some type of art to follow your progress. It’s for your own self-improvement, so have fun and express yourself! Did you check your email only twice today? If you missed making some calls or organizing a portfolio one day, did you catch up the next? Why / why not?
5. APPEARANCE: Take time to relax and reflect on this change of habit. How do you appear now? Happier? Healthier? Feedback from friends can be helpful now, too. Are adjustments needed? Perhaps a little more time will be necessary; maybe a little less. If you have an already hectic workload, and three more calls per day on top of organizing your entire home and office space is stressing you and your family out, try cutting back to one or two calls, along with organizing only one room at a time. Maybe a self-help group or class is needed to learn time management skills?
Put these five A’s to work. Make modifications in your own plans, then go back to tip number one. Old bad habits that took time to develop will take time to eliminate. But remember, none of us are perfect. Each one of us has something to work on for self- improvement. It’s a process!
