Threatened once again by our governing bodies, how much more can we take. I hear we are to be penalized with higher council taxes for making our houses into a home by decorating or adding a conservatory.
People are going to be weary of putting a lick of paint on the walls. Heaven forbid what do this government want more slums, because that is exactly what is going to happen.
Okay fine I will pay your extra taxes you ask for but do I get any compensation or council tax deductions for all the years living next door to drug traffickers asylum seekers, paedophiles. I leave you sitting on that one.
What is it going to take for dumb folk like me to see through the barbaric way our country is run? We are like lambs to the slaughter. We have a failing education system, a failing police force and then we have the failing health system. How can we or our children excel in life, when there is so much negativity and not enough positivity.
How worried is our government about the health system?
I believe they are doing everything in their power to sort matters. It is because of their powers why the health system is the way it is today.
Because of this political force people are pressurized into living their lives like a survival course. Working all the hours god sends to put a crust on the table only to have the government get their grubby fingers into your pay packet leaving you with only crumbs.
The whole of the damned nation and that is what it is damned, live in fear of the black/brown brief case that contains the key to all our futures. The Budget causes more stress and anxiety to a lot of innocent victims who have felt the need to take an overdose or even worse their lives because they can not make ends meet.
Lucky patients that get to sit up in bed and not on a trolley in a corridor, count your blessings before the day of the next budget.
Contributing to society the way the government is doing by raising peoples anxiety/stress levels is killing any respect from the nation.
Two of the biggest causes of a heart attack is anxiety/stress, no wonder our health system is as it is today.
Our system is not able to cope with the shortage of beds doctor’s nurses etc if the people in power keep putting more patients there. Demand for a bed in our hospitals is way of life we have all grown accustomed too or lost a life because of what we have become accustomed too.
If you can not beat them join them. Further your education, give your kids the chance they need to survive. A great site with proven results www.allaboutonlineeducation.com You owe to yourself and the kids.

Recently the FTC, Federal Trade Commission put forth a report on franchising. They want to further add to the franchise rule, even though they should be reducing regulation since there is not fraud to speak of. In our country we have identity theft and identity creation costing this country billions of dollars and destroying family credit, chances to own a home and allow them to join the ownership society. We have SPAM costs businesses some 30-57 estimated billions of dollars per year in lost productivity. In the last 24 hours I have received 2336 emails and only 120 were legitimate, the rest was SPAM. As far as Law Enforcement experience at the Federal Trade Commission, I think there is work that needs to be done and I would not call what has been done in franchising regulation enforcement; law enforcement experience. You can call it grandstanding with fancy meetings, press releases, PR events, case filings, but the fact is that the Federal Trade Commission has failed. The FTC failed. My SPAM has gone up 3000% since up started enforcing it? Identity theft has run ramped. On October 28, the FTC announced at a meeting of private investigators that they had filed now 63 cases against SPAM. Guess what it is not working, my SPAM is still increasing? So if filing lawsuits is considered a law enforcement experience, it is not any problems. Similarly the FTC’s failure to bring relevant and honest cases against disreputable franchisors show one of two things, either;
A.) There is no real fraud to be found
B.) The cases brought forth are all like my case with the FTC, totally bogus.
I believe judging from my experience with this purported noble agency of balance and justice that it in fact it is a combination of those two scenarios. Thus why do we have a franchise rule in this country at all? The industry would be better served and better controlled by consumer watchdog Blogs. If a good majority of the 63 SPAM cases filed by recently by the FTC are like those filed against reputable franchisors then many of these cases are indeed against innocent parties as well. Thus the only real reason for the cases is a “feel good” thing for consumers to think someone is watching out for them, when in fact those watching out for them cannot solve the problem at all. Simply filing cases or throwing money at a problem does not mean you are a legitimate agency or accomplishing anything in your endeavors, both the franchising regulatory issues and the SPAM issue seem to show a similar trend at the commission and it is not very becoming of the Justice Department or regulatory agencies in general. If this is what is meant by the FTC’s law enforcement experience, then such catastrophic failure to protect the consumer is unworthy of mention and a different phrase should be used. “The Federal Trade Commission’s failure in law enforcement indicates that….” Perhaps that would be more appropriate in this report on the franchise rule? I therefore believe that the phrase “Law Enforcement Experience in the second page of this report in the background section is inappropriate and if this is the basis for allowing the Federal Trade Commission to supervise and continue in the rule making process then it must be stopped at once and barred from the franchising industry all together.
The FTC is a duplication of other agencies and always tooting it’s own horn, but in reality it does not do a whole lot of anything really. I speak mostly to the consumer protection division which overseas the Franchising Rule part of things; however if one were to review the break up of AT&T in hindsight or the Microsoft Case based on competitor complaints such as Oracle and AOL, both of which in the news for questionable activities within the last year, one has to wonder about the abilities of the FTC at all. What did the break up of AT&T accomplish. Have your folks ever read Ayn Rand? Can we trust the Federal Trade commission at all? I have an anti-trust towards the FTC these days.
Think on this, I’ll get back to you; no I am not done, yet just going to take a coffee break, surely the FTC knows what those are? After all they don’t do anything there, but file bogus cases and misrepresent their value to society, consumers and civilization. You folks are not wearing any clothes at the FTC. Fluff and puffery, while you destroy free enterprise and innovation in America. What a pathetic joke indeed.

However, finding low-cost auto parts can be quite time devouring. Numerous people that may not be capable of affording spanking new vehicles can buy discount auto parts they can afford. Anyone can get mechanics to put in aftermarket auto parts to have the chore done more quickly. There are quite a few online stores which offer rebates through out the year. You can have the advantage of such offers. But you should verify the brand, of such parts, particularly if they are extended on heavy rebates.
Besides the dealers, sometimes you can find a discount if you are purchasing automobile parts direct from the manufacturing outlet. Though such offers are an exception; most of the verified motorcar part producers have a huge meshwork of dealers and they provide their parts only through them. There are other many hints useable on the way to get most beneficial discounts on auto parts both offline as well as online.

“Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists in choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable.” John Kenneth Galbraith
Oh, how true! When you have a problem in your personal life, does your options for solving that problem come down to the “lesser of two evils?” Probably so. If your options for solving your problem are good or excellent choices, you don’t have a problem, you have an opportunity.
Same in local government. When local government has a “problem” the choices they have are the “lesser of two evils.” Or, as Mr. Galbraith would say “between the disastrous and the unpalatable.”
It is truly unfortunate that local elected officials do not admit this, when discussing problem issues in public. This dilemma is certainly discussed in private between individuals involved in the decision making process. But, it is rare when a local official publicly states that the problem they are facing has no good solution. The options available consist between “the disastrous and the unpalatable.”
On top of that, add into the equation that elected local government officials who are making these decisions, are amateurs. Amateurs make mistakes. Lots of mistakes. So when choosing between those “lesser of two evils” they can often choose the worst of the choices.
Run government like a business! How many times have we heard, or maybe even said that?
How many businesses do you know, when looking for a new member for their Board of Directors throw the position open to amateurs, with absolutely no experience? Or, do they look for the best, most experienced person they can find to help guide them into the future?
Is it any wonder that some local governments bumble along? Is it any wonder that John Q. Public gets disenfranchised with the system?
We know that problems aren’t going to go away. We also know we aren’t going to change the way local elected officials are hired. Is there anything that can help this process along?
Yes, there is. The solution involves you, your friends and your neighbors. You may find this solution “unpalatable.”
1) Involvement. Citizen Involvement. Citizens need to go to meetings. You need to go to meetings.
2) Citizens need to be there to give support and encouragement to these rank amateurs who are attempting to do their best under very difficult conditions. They are doing a job that must be done by someone.
3) Citizens who may have expertise on particular issues need to give their constructive input before the decisions are made … not after.
Local elected officials universally lament the fact that citizens avoid attending meetings where their input is not just invited, but needed. These local officials also acknowledge the fact that they are amateurs and do not have the experience on many issues, that they need to make decisions.
Silence by citizens can be deafening, and destructive.
Your local government needs you to become involved!

As a result of the conflict analysis exercise and a workshop conducted earlier this year by the Liberia Community Infrastructure Program, (LCIP), participants indicated a strong resentment of ex-combatants by the war affected community leading to traditional cleansing ceremonies. Sentiments from both tribes indicated a mutual approval/acceptance of the Zalakai/Zalayei traditional healing process; only being assisted by LCIP. Villagers spoke of not only their support of peace, but more so, the importance of cleansing the desecrated land where people were killed, but not buried; sisters with brothers, but not married. Although past programs have stemmed from studies of post war conflict in other countries, the inclusion of traditional ceremonies integrated into western theory are influencing the real life healing processes. “We must go back to our ancestors to cleanse the land and women can restore the customs of our secret societies and traditional sites.
Prominent citizens from Lofa County still displaced in Monrovia and VOWPEDE were also encouraged to participate in the cleansing ceremonies. The other Lorma communities that participated were the Kugbemai, Betajama, Kpademai, Borloso, Lobaba and Vezela totaling almost 1400 persons.
Reaching the village of Vonema presented challenges of mud sliding, rock climbing and intricate driving to reveal a southern side of Woka Mountain. Citizens were still bringing benches as the program rambled to a start with the arrival of a cultural group and Vonema’s own musician.
The anticipation of the day’s ceremonies created a mixture of emotions as Elders, Chiefs, Zo’s, Karamors and Imans who had agreed to come together, talked in a quiet rumble in the town of Vonema. Vonema, approximately 13 kilometers from Voinjama, unlike Barkedu a Mandingo dominated society was one only two of the 26 villages, where Lorma and Mandingo ethnic groups live side by side as though the terrible years before have long since passed. The Mandingo representative spoke in Lorma, as a sign of respect for unity, gave his rendition of life in Vonema. According to him, Lorma and Mandingo had always lived together peaceably and had both been afflicted by the war.
Many of the comments at the ceremonies were proof that past meetings were beneficial to understanding what the war affected community expected from the ex-combatants in order to move forward. The ex-combatants agreed the absence of these processes is one of the main barriers to their return and reintegration. It was now about 3:00 p.m., and the LCIP delegates arrived to receive a traditional welcome of dancers, to the village of Barkedu. Mrs. Rachel Muiru, Reintegration Manager, and Ms. Mercedes Cabrera, LCIP’s Financial Manager were met with the singing and dancing of a traditional greeting from Zoe’s and other villagers.
The Imam had given prior permission for me to continue my reporting during the prayers inside the mosque. The worshippers were attentively perched on their knees as if to begin prayer as the introductions of the LCIP delegation and their functions received response to “Allah.
“The quiet wise voice of the old Imam, explained the morning’s prayer in the village mosque of Barkedu was to focus on the libations to ancestors and gods, sacrificial offerings, formal request for forgiveness by the offenders, discussion of reparations, the feast, the cleansing and reconciliation.
The Barkedu Imam opened by saying to the worshippers and guest in the mosque, “We should open our eyes and minds to what would take the American people from their country to bring us together. They show their love. Educated and uneducated must work as a team or the foreigner will come to take over this country.”
According to reports and stories from many sources, the stigma of the age old conflict between the Mandingoes and the Lormas stemmed from land squabbles, denial of intermarriages and lack of respect of cultural differences. These issues still play a major role in the natural ability of a once very organized society to heal relationships in the social structure.
The Imam used a “two tree” parable to demonstrate how the effects of war and conflict afflicted everyone regardless of tribe.
Later that day the Imam began a prayer as a signal to the start of the ceremonies in Barkedu. Prayers from the Holy Quaran would be recited the whole night to invoke the God’s blessings on the eve of slaughtering the black cow on the Lofa river bank. The waters would have enough force to carry away the impurities from the communities. It took several men to bring the cow to the ground, before it could be prepared for sacrifice. There was laughter as more people joined in to bring the cow to the ground.
The Zalakai ceremony continued with the slaughter of the cow with a sheep waiting in the near field as people were still arriving from miles around. The day’s ceremonies were not finished as many were still awaiting the arrival of the US representative.
The anticipation on the arrival of the dignitary from the U.S. Embassy, Ms. Tracey Hebert, (pictured below), the representative of the U.S. Aid to International Development. (USAID), brought small children running to change their clothes. [Shown above, Ms. Tracey Hebert, USAID representative, Mrs. Rachel Muiru, LCIP Social Reintegration Manager, Ms. Mercedes Cabrera, LCIP Finance Manager]
Children and other citizens were on the lookout for the arrival of the guest kept the program organizers abreast of the arrival of the VIP. Villagers lined the road for almost a mile with a section of the welcoming party in all white from head to toe in anticipation of Ms. Hebert’s arrival. The gleeful crowd broke into dance and song at the sight of the white USAID/LCIP vehicle. Ms. Hebert exited the vehicle and joined in the long symbolic walk to town as casual greetings from awaiting villagers continued on the brushed dirt road to the villages’ most modern structure, a central palava hut, probably made of dead block and zinc. Ms. Hebert began her greeting in Arabic, “Al salaam alakaim ,” and the crowd pleasingly responded, as she continued her message of hope for lasting peace on behalf of the United States government to a large crowd seated on mats. At each pause, the citizens and other attendees of Barkedu answered with “Praises Be to Allah.” Then Mrs. Muiru, a native of Kenya and line manager for LCIP spoke in both Mandingo and English as she also wished sustained peace for them and their children. This time the skillful translator spoke in Arabic as the crowd listened attentively as the facilitator of these traditional cleansing collaborations continued to make emphasis on peace and reconciliation.
A soft-spoken woman from the Mandingo tribe gave a heartfelt description of Ma Kebbeh, a Lorma woman with the God given ability to “put people together.” She said, Ma Kebbeh is a woman capable of exuding the warmth of an old friend or family member is well respected by all in the community. Both women then presented the USAID representative with a white chicken and white cloth representing purity of heart, a traditional way of welcoming people in Lofa. White cola nuts were also presented from other attendees as a sign of purity.
Brief prayers were offered as songs and prayer often interrupted the program.
[Villagers at the Barkedu Palava Hut]
Finally just as the day had begun, the Imam once more offered a message of peace from the Koran, and the formal ceremony proceeded to the feast.

TX Auto Insurance Coverage Requirements
- Bodily Injury Liability: $25,000/$50,000 Limit
- Property Damage Liability: $25,000 Limit
*As of April 1, 2008,these increased requirements went into effect
In Texas, somebody must always be found blameful for causing an accident and they, along with their insurer, are responsible for covering ensuant costs. This system is known as the tort system. There are multiple other states that exercise this kinde of system, but specific laws and regulations may deviate by state.
To have better auto insurance security, you can opt for Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury coverage. This insurance policy option addresses the costs involved with bodily injury caused in an accident with an uninsured motorist. The state does not postulate people to have this specific type of insurance coverage, but people should consider having this invaluable insurance coverage.
Texas motorists are paying a bit more on their auto insurance than the average most others are paying In 2003, the average national rate was $914 while the average resident paid around $932. Some Texans believe that they have to pay whatever their current agency tells them to or that the insurance quotes are determined by the state. While there is a little regulation, there are still many ways you can get discounted auto insurance quotes. Drivers are able to take a defensive driving class to getting a insurance discount based on your work or type of degree you can get lower Texas auto insurance.
To speedily find more affordable insurance rates, you should look over different auto insurance rate quotes using auto insurance sites.Services like these get premium costs instantaneously, allowing drivers to view them beside each other. They can also give you added articles on various ways to maximize your discounts.
2007 had the first drop-off in insurance costs since 1999. Many people saw a drop-off from their 2006 rates by .5% to 1%. 2008 followed in the first half, but then expenses began to follow their normal cycle and increase slightly. Increases like these have been forcing people to see if they can reduce their monthly costs using auto insurance rate comparison sites. Utilizing technology, these sites have made it easier to shop for and compare expenses.
Premiums fluctuate over time and if you don’t at least look into getting less expensive auto insurance premiums, you may end up paying more than you have to. Auto insurance fluctuates and recently there was an go up of 6% from 2002 to 2003. You won’t see your insurance underwriter always telling you about premium discounts and overall, insurance premiums go up over time. To compare premiums, use the power of the internet and visit sites that will help you find the best auto insurance premiums in Texas.

Americans pride themselves on being the best, that’s a fact. From McDonalds, to Coke, to Microsoft, to Hollywood, we have the best of everything. Don’t we? Especially in computer technology, Dell, HP/Compaq, Macintosh, we stand tall. Is that right? Is that a fact?
I got back from Belize a few weeks ago. They don’t even have paved roads in most parts of that country. At one time ruled by the Brits and Queen Elizabeth, they now have a horrible monarchy that devours every dollar that comes into that feeble little plot of land in Central America called a country. Yes, South of Mexico, by Honduras, Guatemala, and Salvador. Dangerous!
In the little town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, where golf carts were the main form of transportation, the dust and dirt roads defined a meeger existance and made Tiajuana look rich. Every morning after a cold shower I lubed up my body with bug repellent and sunblock 45 in a heated, 100% humidity based cliamte, to fend off the oncoming assult from Malaria infested mosquitos, among other things.
Althought the resorts were sites to behold, and the crystal clear waters offered exotic underwater advertures second to none in the world, any excursion outside of that arena proposed nothing too appealing. I felt so disconnected.
So after a day of snorkling, a day by the resort pool, and a day of fishing, I decided to brave the dusty dirt roads with my rented golf cart. Central American humidity and dust do not go together as I immediately felt the grit build up on my teeth. Yet this simple, bold venture led me to find a diamond in the rough, a techie’s dream.
As I turned the corner onto Pothole Dirt Drive, feeling somewhat protected from the blistering sun by the excessive soot buildup on my sweaty bug sprayed skin, a beautiful sign lifted my spirits and brought hope for the next 5 days of my vacation. Around the corner loomed high in black letters on a pink wall of a worn down 2-story building, “Internet Café.” I was saved.
And saved was I, as I opened the double glass doorway into a frigid room lined with leather chairs and cubicles filled with Dell 19″ Flat Panel Monitors. Had I died and gone to heaven? My curiosity excellerated as I began to ask question after question about the technology, how they get it and “Bandwidth.” It’s always all about the bandwidth. They were getting Full Duplex T1 plus speeds with a Satellite backup plan held together by a gas powered generator for when the Belizian government refused them power. Awesome.
So I began to drive my golfcart around the town with a new eager excitement for this fabulous oasis. I found HP filled joints, IBM Laptop establishments, Dell labs, and even a a cool place using voice over IP that offered free cocktails with every half hour purchase. I logged in, read the US news online, checked my e-mail, had a couple drinks and even called home. My total bill for over an hour on the Internet and a 20 minute phone call was only $9.00. Incredible.
How could they do it?
Well, I am not really sure, but I researched a little and found that many so called third world countries have the infrastructure in place to provide such services. Not only do they have the infrastructure, but the infrastructure in newer and more sophisticated then lots of the US has to offer. Think about it, the cabling system integrated in most of our cities has existed for several years and with modered tech advancements, new systems have the ability to produce more for less.
This concept of the US being the best is true, I sure wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, but it is easily understandable that we also have to keep up with the times. We have to “tool up,” so to say. Look at what’s happening to GM right now. I can see this happening in multiple industries if we don’t move forward, stay current and let go of the pretentious attitude that we are untouchable.
The third world is looking more and more like second.
