New Upgraded Broadband Service by Zen Internet Delayed

Posted in Consumer Life

Zen Internet’s new plan, which is expected to be in full force by spring 2010, is expected to provide its current as well as new customers with up to 20 Mb broadband services. The plan, which has already been communicated to the users, aims at upgrading to BT’s 21 CN network, and subsequently start leveraging ADSL2+ technology. This is part of the provider’s ambitious plans to offer high speed broadband service of up to 20 Mb.

The service is designed in a way that the speeds will vary in accordance with the distance of the customer’s premises from the local exchange, as well as the external wiring of the system coming from the exchange. Initially, the present customers will receive the same service as before and at the same prices, but the download speeds will increase shortly after the upgrade. The scheme is also available for new customers, who are within the network area of the service. It’s a good idea to look at a dedicated website to check you’re getting the best broadband service for you in your area.

Zen Internet explained the delay by informing that the users can be moved only in proportion to the number of BT engineers in each exchange. This physical restriction is important to the upgrade as estimates suggest that with the current number of BT engineers, it would take around eight months to transfer customers from the 21CN exchanges to the new broadband service with speeds up to 20 Mb. Also, if all the conditions are fulfilled, the customers can expect an average speed 9-13 Mb for download and 1 Mb for upload.
